To every nurse, in every ward, clinic, and community around the world:
Thank you.
Your work is the backbone of healthcare – quietly steady, profoundly compassionate, and unwavering even in the face of extraordinary physical and emotional demands. Today and every day, we acknowledge not only what you do, but what it takes to do it.
Studies consistently show what you already feel every shift: nursing is both physically strenuous and mentally taxing.
• In recent global analyses, one-third of nurses report emotional exhaustion, with burnout symptoms such as depersonalization and reduced sense of accomplishment affecting a significant share of the workforce. Emotional exhaustion alone has been measured at 33.45% globally, with even higher rates during crisis periods.
• The 2024–2025 reporting on nurse burnout demonstrates that over half of nurses experience unmanageable workloads, with 54% citing workload and an inability to take breaks as major contributors to declining mental well-being.
• Mental health challenges extend beyond fatigue. Critical care nurses have been found to face higher rates of depression and anxiety than the general public, and studies during the COVID‑19 era showed that one-third of nurses experienced significant psychological symptoms, including anxiety and depression.
• Tragically, evidence also reveals elevated risks of suicide among nurses, with female nurses experiencing twice the risk compared with the general population–an urgent reminder of how deeply the work impacts emotional well‑being.
Despite these pressures, nurses continue to deliver exceptional care, safeguard patient safety, and uphold the dignity of every person they serve.
At Nihon Kohden Europe, we are deeply honoured to support the nursing community and stand alongside you in advancing patient care. Your resilience, clinical excellence, and humanity inspire our mission every day–to develop technologies that ease your workload, strengthen patient safety, and empower you in the moments that matter most. On behalf of our entire organisation, we extend our sincere appreciation for your dedication and for the immeasurable impact you make on healthcare and on society. We remain committed to being a trusted partner to nurses everywhere, today and always.
